Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional to fill the role of Hybrid Defense Paralegal & Legal Administrator in our Workers’ Compensation practice. This hybrid position will involve both paralegal duties and administrative tasks, supporting attorneys and managing case files, client communications, and document preparation. The ideal candidate will be familiar with workers’ compensation laws, procedures, and the specific needs of defense-side legal teams to support our attorneys in workers’ compensation. This is a permanent position that offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
Paralegal Duties:
- Assist attorneys in managing a caseload of workers’ compensation defense cases, including preparing and filing documents, drafting correspondence, and conducting legal research.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain case files, medical records, and evidence.
- Coordinate and prepare for hearings, depositions, and trials, including witness coordination and document preparation.
- Communicate with clients, insurance adjusters, and opposing counsel regarding case developments.
- Assist in the review and analysis of medical and workers’ compensation reports.
- Stay current with changes in workers’ compensation law and industry standards.
Legal Administrative Duties:
- Manage and maintain attorneys’ calendars, scheduling meetings, hearings, and deadlines.
- Handle billing, timekeeping, and invoicing for attorneys as required.
- Draft and proofread correspondence, memos, and other legal documents.
- Perform general office administrative tasks, including organizing files, managing records, and coordinating office supplies.
- Answer phone calls and emails, responding to client inquiries or directing them to the appropriate legal team member.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with legal and ethical guidelines in all administrative tasks.
- Assist in the implementation of office policies and procedures for efficient operations.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience in Paralegal Studies, Legal Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a defense paralegal or admin in workers’ compensation law.
- Strong understanding of workers’ compensation laws, regulations, and defense practices.
- Proficiency with case management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and proactive approach to handling tasks.
This position is for our Cleveland, Ohio office. Hours are generally 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Monday through Friday), but additional hours could be required as necessary.
